Goal

Improving the overall socio-economic status of migrant returnees and their families in Sudurpaschim and Karnali Provinces in Nepal

about us

How it all started…

SRIJANA, initiated in response to a possible humanitarian crisis impacting the lives of the Nepali migrant returnees in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attempts to address the livelihood challenges faced by these returnees. With the onset of the Pandemic, many found themselves stranded in India or returned home with limited livelihood options, leading to increased poverty, food insecurity, and emotional distress. To combat these issues, SRIJANA takes a two-pronged approach: empowering returnees to establish micro-enterprises in their home villages and imparting skills that increase their prospects of getting a secure job in the local markets. Currently, around 2,731 returnees actively participate in the project, with clear signs of a successful reintegration into their communities and achieving financial independence.
